I have recently started using eye shadow… I know! It is one of these things I’ve never really experimented with; mainly because I thought they were ‘too much’, but also because I have absolutely no MUA skills in me. Anna of The Anna Edit wears a matte brown shade on her eye every day and it looks effortlessly chic and minimal, which I love. But this kind of shade doesn’t suit me so well, I think pink tones are much better. For days when I want to elevate my look, I like to apply the NARS Nepal eye shadow all over the lid. It is a soft rose hue that gives a fresh face effect due to its slight shimmer. My technique still isn’t perfect, but I think blending it as much as possible is the right way to go. I try to use it on its own with minimal mascara on a daily basis but I wouldn’t hesitate to pair it with eyeliner or dramatic lashes for a special night.

I’m pretty pleased with this change in my beauty routine, but it doesn’t mean I will be applying it all the time. I feel like it is a step by step process, just like how I am going to stick to a single eye shadow for now and not go overboard with the crazy palettes on the market. As tempting as they are, most colours end up being unusable. But talking about palettes, I’m playing with the idea of experimenting with my Urban Decay Naked Petite which I got a long time ago and haven’t used since (except for brows), I will keep you posted!

Do you use eye shadow, if so, what is your go-to one?
