I just came back from a dreamy staycation in the heart of the city and it made me realize how much I’ll miss it when I move at the end of April. Before going to sleep, I watched the view from the 19th floor of my hotel room, took a moment to look at the illuminated bridge, the ferris wheel in the old port, Mount Royal and all the skyscrapers. It was magical and a little emotional. I don’t always take the time to appreciate my city, and especially not in winter. It was nice to see Montreal from another point of view (literally in the middle of downtown) . So in order to make the post less emotional, I’ve decided to share with you my favourite spots in Montréal, if you ever get a chance to visit the city…
Outside - Atwater Market & the Lachine Canal
This area is where I spent most of my lunch breaks over the past two summers. I cannot describe how vibrant yet calming this place is in the summer. I recommend exploring the market, getting food and then sitting by the Lachine Canal for a picnic. It’s also a great place for taking walks in the morning!
Bar - Atwater Cocktail Club
Same area, can you guess I spend a lot of time in St-Henri? This is by far my favourite bar in the city (FWI it’s also a speakeasy so the door is hard to find). It’s a great place to have an after work cocktail with your friends, a date or a celebration. It’s also gorgeous and intimate space with a pink built-in banquette and gold accents, gorgeous!
Café - Myriade Dominion Square
The cutest café on the whole island located in the basement of the Club Monaco store. I have had great memories in this café, from attending the opening party, to meeting Garance Doré at her book signing, or enjoying a croissant with friends. It’s small but oh so beautiful, so be prepared to wait for a table, or share with a stranger, but it’s worth it!
Shopping - Stockmrkt / Want Apothecary
These are two really cool stores located in St-Henri and Westmount respectively, and they are both by the same owners. They carry a selection of international and local brands such as Byredo, Filippa K, Want les Essentiels, Acne Studios, Grown Alchemist and more!
I couldn’t decide what restaurant to recommend, so instead, I’ll tell you about my favourite places to eat in the city, which coincidently are all located in the Old Port. If it’s summer, go on a terrace, there’s Terrasse Nelligan where you can eat on a rooftop and the view is amazing. I also adore the restaurants part of the Antonopoulos Group; Kyo, Maggie Oakes, Méchant Boeuf, Bevo, Modavie, Taverne Gaspar, etc. I’ve tried all of them and they were all fantastic!
