They say it's the little things in life that bring us true happiness... and up until recently, I didn't really believe it. I would describe myself as a big dreamer. I always thought it was a good thing, but I've been told that because of these dreams, I always focus on the past or the future and rarely on the present. It took me a while to accept the harsh truth but now I'm making an effort to notice all the little everyday things that make me happy.

Flowers - I cannot help it, flowers are the most beautiful thing on this earth and they smell lovely! Recently I saw someone in the metro with a bouquet of flowers and it got me in such a good mood just looking at it (it also helped that I'm a hopeless romantic and I couldn't help imagining the situation around the flowers). In the spring when the lilac bushes around my house are in bloom, I always go for a walk to take a few photos and smell them! On a daily basis, I also follow great florists on Instagram like my Montreal favorite Bell Jar Botanicals, the girl who is in charge of the flowers at the Glossier showroom, and a welcoming Stockholm flower shop.

Listening to a podcast - I don't think I need to reiterate my love for podcasts here. But, I have to say that whenever I find a new podcast that I love, it make me so happy to listen to it. Recently, I've been loving Dolly Alderton's Love Stories podcasts where she asks her guests about first love, unrequited love, everlasting love and more!

Finishing a great book - This is very satisfying for two reasons: one is that I can add a new book to my "books I've read" list and two because I've just learned something new by reading that book. Recent reads I've absolutely loved were Call Me by Your Name by Andre Aciman and Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton (her again sorry!).

Having time for myself - I'm an introvert, which means: I need to spend time on my own to re-charge my energy. I love having my own little traditions like getting off the metro one station before work to walk by the canal, spending time in bed Sunday morning to watch videos from my favourite YouTubers, or eating way too much Lays BBQ chips while watching a movie or a series.

Unexpected text messages - Don't you love when you receive a text from a friend or someone in your family for no other reason than they just wanted to wish you a good day, to invite you for dinner or to share something great that happened to them? I think when I expect these texts the least, they make me even happier!

What are the little things that make you happy?
