So I'm starting this new series on my blog of lessons I've learned based on my experiences during the week. I have no idea how often I'll post these but I guess it will depend on how my week goes. I hope you enjoy this one, happy Sunday!
01. Spend time with people that make you laugh
If it's true that laughing makes you live longer, well after this week I've probably added a few more years to my life! I had plans every night after work, and almost missed some of them because I felt tired, but I decided to go and my week ended up being lovely! It was all because I was surrounded by people who made me laugh. On Thursday, my blogger BFF Cassidy and I went to the 15th anniversary of Les Pyrénnées restaurant in the old port and we had such a fun night meeting new people and eating a delicious paella. The guy sitting next to us made us laugh the whole time so it was amazing! It's also a reminder that when you don't feel like going out, you should go because 95% of the time it ends up being great.
02. Don't forget what's around you
When I think about fashion and shopping in general, Canadian brands are rarely the first thing that come to my mind. I'm saying this even though I absolutely adore smaller brands like Noemiah and Josiane Perron or bigger Canadian brands like Aritzia or Aldo. After a recommendation from a coworker, I decided to pay a visit to Simons (an amazing department store from Quebec city) and I was happily surprised. When I started high school, it used to be the go-to shopping place but I forgot how amazing it was! They have so many sections: one for the home, one for teenagers, one for young professional adults, an accessories section, one for brands, one for pjs and underwear, etc. Not only do they have amazing buyers finding pieces from international brands, they also have a great in-house design team. I found a pair of leather mules perfect for spring and summer. They are made in Portugal and were a lot cheaper than what you would find in other places. If you speak French, I highly recommend you check out my friends Marianne and Gabrielle's video on Simons on their YouTube channel 2e peau.
03. Take photos!
Back in the days (2 years ago) I would post 1 photo a day on Instagram, and sometimes even twice a day. I haven't felt so inspired lately so I haven't taken many, but I know I should take more because photos are great memories. I'm confident I'll take more this summer, especially during my trip but I want to force myself to get my phone or camera out on random days. I think part of it also has to do with the fact that I feel bad "invading" people's feeds on social media when I share my pictures. I know it is ridiculous and people can just unfollow me if they're not happy with what I post but yeah!
What have you learned this week?
