‘My London Home’ by me.

‘My London Home’ by me.

Here it is… the second chapter to my London story.

One thing you have to know about the renting situation in London is that it is extremely difficult. Flats usually appear on the market 4 weeks before they’re available, which doesn’t give you much time to look for the perfect place. The competition is harsh and a listing that went up in the morning might be gone by the end of the day.

Living across the ocean made it practically impossible for me to go for flat viewings, but I wanted to secure a place to live for at least my first month in the city. Combining the stress of finding an apartment and applying for jobs at the same time is not for the faint-hearted. This is why I decided to book my first month with a vacation rental website. I was lucky because not only did I find the perfect launching pad for me to start my London adventure, I ended up making an agreement with the landlord to stay there for a few more months until I figure everything else.

This is more than I could have hoped for… My first flat, living in one of my dream neighbourhoods, in a building with typical English architecture! There is also a garden and plenty of natural light. What did I do to deserve this?

I’m excited for this new chapter, and it’s only the beginning.
