I've never been to Paris. But the mythic idea of the Parisienne has always been something incredibly fascinating to me. These women look effortlessly cool, drink wine and eat croissants all day and they live in one of the most elegant cities in the world. Emmanuelle Alt, Caroline de Maigret, and Catherine Deneuve are great examples of that. The number of articles written on the subject is also insane. But when I learned that Jeanne Damas, a French it girl, created a book of portraits on different Parisiennes, I was sold! Throughout the book, you meet women who all live in different arrondissements of Paris. The stories are written in a very casual and intimate way by Lauren Bastide and the photos are all 35mm films taken by Jeanne Damas herself. Note that the book is in French but if you don't speak French, it would make a beautiful coffee book nonetheless.

I've loved learning about all the women they met. They all have a unique story to tell and they are aged between 14 and 70 years old. If one thing, this book is going to make you want to book a trip to Paris just to walk around the city. Between each portrait, they also share some of their favourite spots to visit so it's a perfect travel book as well. You will also fall in love with the photography!
