Hello you lot! Today marks exactly two weeks since I’ve moved to London. I can say that I’ve had a few lonely moments, but overall I’ve been so happy with my experience (the good definitely outweighs the bad). My objective is to get out of the house everyday and try to meet people, explore the area, and make friends. I haven’t found a job yet, but until then, I just want to enjoy the experience as much as I possibly can.
I have met really lovely people since I’m here; Catherine, a girl who has, just like me, moved here from Montreal, and Franzi, a blogger I have met through Instagram and our mutual friend Martine. On different occasions, I’ve walked with them in Notting Hill, had brunch, hung out in Covent Garden, cooked with them, and an ice cream break in Hyde Park.
There have been events where I got to meet some of my favourite writers like Pandora Sykes and Elizabeth Day (haven’t met Elizabeth yet but her live podcast with Zawe Ashton was brilliant). On Saturday I attended a charity Car Boot Sale for Women for Women International, which was unfortunately very overwhelming, but it showed me that fashion really is a passion for a lot of people in London. In my first few days, I’ve visited the V&A museum for the Dior exhibition, went to the Sky Garden and did a bit of window shopping. Westbourne Grove is amazing because they have a GOOP and a Sézane.
I also found the best secondhand bookshop, which now I have to stay very far away from, because I can’t accumulate too much stuff.
Yesterday I woke up with a really swollen eye and I panicked a bit but it ended up being just allergies. Hay fever is a real thing in London (and my landlord told me that West London is often called ‘Leafy London’ because of all the trees and the flowers, which might be the cause of my allergies).
But tonight my bestie Elisabeth is coming for a few days and it makes me so happy! We met in London 6 years ago so it is quite a special thing being back together in this city.
See you soon xx
