Finishing a good book, booking a massage, and spraying Byredo’s Mojave Ghost on your neck are three examples of extremely luxurious moments that also fall in the category of self care. Wanna know what else is the perfect combination of self care and luxury? The new Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow foundation. Before getting into the review, I just have to mention that up until recently, foundation was not something I used very often. I love the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation on special occasions, but that’s as far as it gets for my experimentations with foundation. So here are my thoughts…

What drew me to Guerlain’s new product is that it also acts as a skincare product (2 in 1, love that!). It combines a variety of ingredients that are 97% natural including white cocoa bean and algae that protect the skin from pollution and blue light. It is also moisturizing and it reduces the size of pores. All and all, it’s a pretty impressive product.

In general, I don’t think I need to wear foundation. I don’t have a problematic skin and I take good care of it. It comes useful when you want to apply more makeup on your face and want to create a good base. I really loved the application (with a Beauty Blender). It was natural, glowy and healthy looking. I can’t say that I’ve tried it for the full 16 hours that they say the foundation last, but for the duration I wore it, it felt light and made my face look good.

What I loved the most about this product was the moment when I applied it on my face. The act in itself felt relaxing, soothing, empowering but also regal. The product comes in the most beautiful packaging and it really added to the experience. Maybe the key takeaway of this blog post is that once in a while, it’s lovely to treat yourself to high end beauty products, or to take more time in the morning to apply your makeup with care. Makeup is a step I often skip but it’s one that is very enjoyable when you have time to do it properly with good products.

What is your go-to luxury self care product?
